Whilst searching through my hard-drive the other day, I found a bunch of games and experiments I did in Flash 5/MX. At that time I was still working in engineering, and reading everything I could about the the web and computer languages. Although the games are not ground breaking and the experiments just fluff, I find looking through them very nostalgic. They came at a the point when I finally realised I could do this web stuff for a living.

The source for the games is still missing which is frustrating, but I did find the source for all the experiments.

You have to watch this music video of Nizlopi’s JCB Song. I don’t really know much about them but the video is the most amazingly lovely thing I have seen in a long long time. It will make you smile.

This is a bit of fun. It’s a little toy someone has built to go along with the Wedding Crashers movie. It allows you to upload an image and then appear in the movie trailer. As you can see from the image below I have another career in the waiting ..
UPDATE: here’s one my friend Martyn did. It really made me laugh

My friend Gideon has this great link on his site of an amazing flash animation by Michal Levy. It reminds me of an old pink panther film for some reason. With a soundtrack of John Coltrane, it really is an amazing piece of work.

This has probably been around for ever, but I’ve never seen it before. What a great idea. I have seen a similar type of live clock over at Yugop a while ago but it never used peoples own photos.

This is a great collaborative art project in which you if you choose the flash link get to zoom into the image. The thing is you don’t stop, you just keep zooming. Really nice

I went to a presentation by Macromedia yesterday on Flash and the future. I have not really been that active in any flash development for a while now due to just not having the time to concentrate on it. The presentation was heavily weighted towards Flash video which I am guessing was premeditated as we are currently do more video on demand. A lot of what was said I had actually read in books so nothing new there and the Mission Impossible clip that they use to demo with I’m sure I have also seen used in a similar demo somewhere before.

A friend of mine sent me a link to the John Coltrane site a while back. It is a flash based site and is designed in a really simple clean way. The navigation system I think is simple fantastic. It’s been a while since I have seriously checked out whats going on flash wise and if this is what I’m missing I’ll have to start again. Back when I was doing a lot of flash stuff my whole approach was to create simple and clean flash movies. Check it out now ..
Also by the way the music on the site is obviously great. Congratulations to http://www.automat.at/ whom designed the site.

I found this on flashmagazine. I had missed this but the hidden games in Flash MX can be found in the About Flash popup available from the Help menu. Double Click the exact middle of the “crotch” of the X in MX (like on image) and 6 hidden games will be revealed. It can be a bit hard to find the exact pixel that you have to click, so try a bit before giving up. You must be online. The games range from very simple to classic entertainment. Great time-wasters if you have some time to spare. What fun.
